This is an early pre-WWII style U.S. Springfield Model 1903 / 1903A3 Extractor featuring the gas escape relief hole drilled near the front claw end.
Feature: The small gas relief hole was incorporated to vent high-pressure gas out the receiver port in the event of a case head rupture or blown primer.
Finish/Condition: Dark oil-finished carbon steel showing light surface freckling and storage wear, but the extraction claw and rear mounting tail are fully intact.
